Discover Our Own Variety of Kohlrabi
We’re proud to introduce our very own kohlrabi variety — carefully developed for excellent flavor, texture, and adaptability to local growing conditions. Many people still don’t know much about this unique vegetable, so we’d love to share what makes it special.
What is Kohlrabi?
Kohlrabi, sometimes called the “German turnip,” is a member of the cabbage family. Its name comes from the German words kohl (cabbage) and rübe (turnip). It might look unusual — a round, bulb-like stem with crisp green or purple skin — but it’s actually one of the most versatile and easy-to-use vegetables you can grow and cook.
Our kohlrabi variety stands out for its sweet, mild flavor and crisp texture. It’s refreshing when eaten raw and develops a delicate, slightly nutty taste when cooked. Whether you’re a home gardener, chef, or food enthusiast, this is a vegetable worth discovering.
Why You’ll Love It
Nutritious: Kohlrabi is rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants, making it both healthy and satisfying.
Adaptable: It grows well in various climates and seasons, perfect for both home gardens and commercial farms.
Versatile: You can enjoy every part of it — the bulb and even the leaves are edible and delicious.
How to Enjoy Kohlrabi
Here are a few simple ideas to help you make the most of this incredible vegetable:
Fresh and Crunchy: Peel and slice it thin for salads or slaws. Combine with carrots, apples, or radishes for a refreshing crunch.
Comforting and Warm: Add diced kohlrabi to soups or stews — it absorbs flavor beautifully while keeping its texture.
Roasted or Stir-Fried: Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roast until golden. It makes a healthy side dish or a great addition to stir-fries.
Sautéed Greens: Don’t throw away the leaves. Sauté them with garlic and soy sauce for a quick, flavorful dish similar to kale.
Kohlrabi might be a hidden gem to some, but once you try it, it’s hard not to fall in love with its refreshing taste and endless possibilities. We’re excited to share our own variety and hope it inspires more people to explore the wonderful world of kohlrabi.

Sesame Kohlrabi & Chicken Salad
This kohlrabi chicken salad is a refreshing and nutritious dish that perfectly balances flavor, crunch, and color. It’s light yet satisfying — combining the tender richness of chicken with the crisp freshness of kohlrabi and cabbage.
Chicken provides a lean source of protein to support muscle growth and repair, while almonds and sesame seeds add a nutty flavor and a delightful crunch. The bright, tangy dressing ties everything together with just the right amount of heat and citrus.
Ingredients
Serves 4
¼ cup rice vinegar
3 tablespoons 50%-less-sodium tamari
1 tablespoon chile-garlic sauce
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
½ cup finely chopped fresh cilantro, divided
2 tablespoons neutral oil (such as canola or avocado)
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1 large kohlrabi (about 1 pound), peeled and cut into matchsticks
3 cups shredded napa cabbage
3 cups shredded cooked chicken
1 cup grated carrots
1 cup thinly sliced snow peas
¼ cup sliced almonds, toasted
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
Directions
In a large bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, tamari, chile-garlic sauce, orange zest, and ¼ cup of the cilantro.
Slowly whisk in the neutral oil and sesame oil until well combined.
Add the kohlrabi, cabbage, chicken, carrots, and snow peas. Toss gently to coat everything evenly with the dressing.
Top with the toasted almonds, sesame seeds, and remaining cilantro before serving.
This salad is best enjoyed fresh, but it can also be chilled for a few hours before serving for an even more refreshing flavor.
